Today we worked on some math skills. We did some counting penguin worksheets, a connect the dot activity and discussed the life cycle of a penguin. Then we colored a picture of the life cycle. After our work was done we went outside to enjoy the sunny morning. It was warmer than it has been the last couple of days and the children really enjoyed themselves.
For lunch we had spaghetti, broccoli with veggie dip, blueberries, and garlic bread. Playing outside must have made everyone really hungry because they all ate and ate!
When lunch was over we had our music class. This week we took a musical trip to the jungle. We started the class by learning the sign language signs for Giraffe, Elephant, Monkey, Zebra, and Lion as we read the book "Who's In The Jungle?" Then we got out our rhythm sticks and tapped some rhythmic patterns to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." Next, we learned the finger play "walking Through The Jungle." Then we got up and moved to "The Monkey Dance." To wrap things up we made animal sounds as we played our instruments to "Over In the Jungle."

When music class was over we got our special monkey and happy note stamps, waved good-bye to Carol and sat back in our chairs to get ready to begin our "The Mitten" play.
Today we got to try acting out a different animal than we did yesterday. I passed out the masks and everyone listened to the story. When their animal came into the scene they hopped, crawled or growled their way to "The Mitten" (our big black blanket) and squeezed in next to their friends. At the end Arhan the bear had a great big sneeze and all of the animals flew out of the mitten!
After the story we got out our nap mats, went potty and joined together again to say our goodnight poem before getting tucked into our blankets and close our eyes for a quiet rest.
After rest we will wake up and have some crackers and milk for snack and then get ready to go outside! Once we are outside we will be doing a one on one project with Ryan, using a hammer and protective glasses to break up the ice we made with the leaves and other fall treasures hidden inside. The children love using real tools whenever possible and love having the help and guidance of an older male so they are really looking forward to this fun activity.
