We had another great day today! This morning we packed a snack and headed out for a neighborhood bird watching walk. We saw lots of robins, crows, two peregrine falcons and a few little finches. We had such a fun time looking for birds and bird nests. The children walked quietly so that they didn't scare the birds and we were able to get close to quite a few of them before they flew away. We made our way to one of our favorite parks and played for a while until we got a little chilled. When the sun went under the clouds it was chilly! We walked a couple more blocks until we got to the mayo buildings and walked through them rather than outside. The children loved seeing the piano player and singers in the lobby and the big statues and decorations. One wall was filled with brightly colored flower paintings- we thought it was just PERFECT for spring!
We finally made our way to ZPizza and had some organic cheese and pepperoni pizza with breadsticks. Yum! The children actually ate in silence most of the time, I think they loved watching the hussle and bussle of the people around them. So many new sights and sounds and even some new smells! The pizza was delicious and it was great to take a relaxing break in the warm building before heading back to school. Luckily by the time we were finished eating the sun was out again and the wind had died down so it was a very pleasant walk back. The children really love walking around town. They find all sorts of fun nature items to bring back to our classroom. Today we picked up a large assortment of pinecones. We also saw some flowers poking through the soil today! Our first flower sighting of spring!
