Brother and Sister Love Each Other!

Check the shutterfly website for some cute group pictures on our tree stumps.

Today was a fun wet day! It was not actually raining out but since many of us brought our special umbrella's to school today we decided to go on a neighborhood umbrella walk. The children look so adorable in their rain boots holding their umbrella's! They had a good time looking at all of the apple tree blossoms and growing flowers all around the neighborhood.
We came back to school and had some free play time on the playground. Then we got out some coffee filters and filled them all up with washable marker colors- they will turn into beautiful butterfly wings later this afternoon!
For group time we sat on our playground tree stumps and I told the story of the transformation of a butterfly. I have some little plastic models of an egg, chrysalis, caterpillar and butterfly and the children loved holding them and passing them around as we discussed all the changes that happen to make a beautiful butterfly. We practiced the sign language sign for butterfly and then we all stood up and became beautiful butterflies as we flew around the play yard with quiet, graceful wings. We played follow the butterfly leader!
We sang a butterfly song and then came inside to get our wet shoes, socks and pants off and have a little relaxation time before music class began. Since we had some time to kill we watched the movie "Eloise In Springtime" while we waited for Ms. Carol to come and teach us some music.
The music class theme of the week is "Shapes".
Our lunch is pizza, french style green beans and apples with milk.
After lunch we have a special glow-in-the-dark butterfly book to read as a group before saying our poems and singing our songs and laying down for our rest.
