We've been enjoying the weather all day today! Our new friends Jayme and Dru came for a visit today along with their mom. They'll be starting here full-time on Monday. I think Jayme might be a monkey bar queen, she's pretty good! Dru is just the cutest little girl ever, she'll get along well with Elia and Jackie they're birthdays are all right in a row. We started with some free play on our playground and had group time outside with a book about the life cycle of butterflies and some fun facts about caterpillars and butterflies. Then we played a group game "Mother May I" as we practiced moving like the little creatures we've been studying. We said our bumble bee poem and sang our "Good Morning" song. To end group time we took our chalk and individual chalk boards to the garden to draw pictures of the plants or bugs that live in our garden. We have been practicing playing and working peacefully in our garden.
We enjoyed music class outdoors today as well. Our favorite part was using the parachute and silk scarves to "make popcorn". So much fun!
After music class we loaded up the stroller and grabbed our partner's hands and went on a walk around the neighborhood. We ended up stopping at the coffee shop for a cookie snack and then continuing on to the St. Mary's hill to roll and climb. The children had so much fun climbing up our giant "mountain" and rolling or running down the hill. We also found a secret path through the woods and decided to walk on it to see where it led. The children were surprised to find out that the path through the woods ended at the St. Mary's Park that has the great climbing trees and small playground that we play at often. We usually go around the back way to get to that park so they had no idea it was so close to the climbing hill! We didn't play at the park today because Ryan and the little ones were waiting down at the bottom of the hill with the big stroller, but someday soon we'll go back to St. Mary's Park.
Lunch was mac and cheese, grapes, pretzels, and mixed veggies with milk.
Snack was cheese crackers and water.
Our afternoon activities included drawing with chalk, bug hunting, playing on the tire swing and in the sandbox.
