What an awesome day for a trip to the fair! The weather was perfect, it wasn't crowded and the animals were beautiful and so happy to see us!
When we got to the fair we split the children into groups. I think this is mostly for my own sanity but it's also really nice for the children to have more individual attention from an adult because when they are all together they all talk at once and nobody is heard. Kroix, Tanmay and AJ were with Ryan and were the Cow group- their goal was to learn as much as possible about the Cows while we were there. Tanmay asked one of the owners some questions and even got a souvenir! A cow nose ring!! It was very cool! Miel, Zara and Kennedy were with Grandma Nancy (Ryan's mom) and they were the sheep group! They loved learning all about sheep and seeing the little animals at the petting zoo area that were more their size. Dru, Elia, Anna and Jayme were the horse group and they were with Heather. They enjoyed seeing the horse show and looking at the beautiful horses all decorated for the competition. Some of those horses are just HUGE! Dru and Elia weren't quite sure about those big animals! Isaiah and Arhan were the Pig group with Rachel. They of course were our over achievers and wrote down information they learned about EVERY animal they saw, not just the Pigs! I told Isaiah that the horse group were so busy they didn't have time to write down the information just yet, and Isaiah told me that there were tables or writing area's in each of the barns they went to! Ooops! I guess we were just too busy to notice that!
After checking out the barns with our different groups we met back together for a picnic lunch in the shade before seeing the zoo animals and the fish.
We also got a yummy shaved ice treat to share with a friend or two. They were HUGE shaved ice treats and were so delicious! Yummmmmy! Each child got to pick a color/flavor to put in the shaved ice.
After the shaved ice we went to see the Teddy Bear Band concert! We danced for two songs and then had to head back to the bus stop to get home.
It was a really fun trip and I really think the children learned some things along the way. It isn't everyday that they are able to experience seeing a cow get a bath, or a horse get it's tail braided!
Thank you Rachel and Grandma Nancy for taking a big trip with us! We certainly couldn't have done it without you! Thank you Steve for walking back with us so that we didn't have to carry 3 sleeping toddlers all the way to the bus stop, that was a life saver!
