Cicada shell- they kind of gross me out, but the children absolutely love them- finding them is like finding gold at our house...and we usually find a couple each day!Boy have we been busy! Summer is almost coming to an end and we are soaking up every bit of lazy (and wild) fun there is to have in the summertime. Everyday we have gone to a different park in the morning. We come back for lessons either Spanish or Music and group time followed by lunch and rest time and then we go back out to Folwell playground to play until pick up time. We have been busy finding some crazy insects, even though we are technically learning about different countries/cultures now- bugs are still very much a part of our daily life! Just today Arhan said "Wow, you sure have a lot of bugs around this school playground!" It's true, we do! We find something new and exciting everyday and often times I have no clue what it is!
The acorns are starting to fall out of our big oak tree and are covering our playground space-making more interesting fun for the little ones! Who knew that our acorn class would enjoy spending hours collecting acorns! They hide them in their pockets, socks, buckets, baskets, just like little squirrels do! Watch for them when you do the laundry you might just find some cicada shells (we've found many of those lately!) and acorns!
We are working on some fall field trips and plan on taking a trip to Minneapolis Friday September 4th for a trip to Wild Rumpus Books- I will send home a letter as a reminder. We will also be going to the Walker Art Center as they have a great outdoor sculpture area after our Wild Rumpus Book Store trip. Kennedy and AJ's mom, Jamie will be our helper for this trip, so your child may either ride with Ryan and I or Jamie . Don't forget to leave carseats the morning of our trip! If you are available for future field trips let me know- the more adults we have able to help the more we can do!
Thank you again for bringing in such great stuff! We have had special Chinese vegetables that nobody had ever seen before but everyone LOVED eating!! We'll have to get it again sometime!! We also have had some really yummy corn on the cob- such a treat for everyone! Who knew corn on the cob would be such an exciting thing- the kids devoured it! We're really enjoying the Famers Market vegetables! Feel free to bring extra's of anything you have, we'll take it, and eat it! I'm always amazed at the amount of food that 12 children go through everyday! I'm glad we have such cheerful eaters at our house, it makes cooking for them enjoyable!
