Our First Mosaics, aren't they beautiful?

Today was a mixed up schedule day. The children normally spend the morning playing in the playroom or playing on our playground but since Ryan is busy with Jury Duty and Elia was still sleeping early this morning we had to keep ourselves busy on the main level. We started with some free art at the table- glue sticks, and colored paper squares and strips. We had so much fun reading the book "Owl Babies" We loved the happy ending! We plan on having each child dictate a short story that goes with this book and then add an illustration as well.
We sang our 5 little owls song too! Then we worked on our mosaic work. The children really loved this project and spent quite a long time working together to find the right pieces for their project. I wasn't sure if this would be too hard for them but all of them did really well with it!
We watched Dru's "Barney" movie while we ate lunch today, only because the table had mosaic tiles all over the place and lunch was ready to be served! With only one teacher it's hard to continue on with the days activities as well as keep the place from looking like a tonado went through! We all love having a picnic once and a while with our special lunch tray's. Today's lunch was Annie's organic mac and cheese, pears, carrot sticks, 1/2 banana and milk. We are having apples with water for snack.
