We have been reading "The Tale Of Despereaux" lately, and the children really enjoy it. The Author, Kate DiCamillo, will be at Wild Rumpus Books December 5th. What a wonderful way to introduce children to the joy of writing and creating something that is all their own, straight from their imagination. It's not every day that you get to meet a famous author!

We closed our eyes, crossed our fingers, turned around three times, got the big end of the turkey bone, blew out our birthday candles, and made the same wish each time...and it came true! Kate DiCamillo is coming to Wild Rumpus! It would probably take a whole book to list all of the great stuff she's done, like winning a Newbery Medal for The Tale of Despereaux and a Newbery Honor for Because of Winn-Dixie. She also writes books about a pig you might know named Mercy Watson. If we're lucky, she might tell us about her newest book, The Magician's Elephant.
