So Much To Be Thankful For....

We had a fun Thanksgiving celebration today! The children actually really loved the meal! I had no idea how many children loved green bean casserole and cheesy potato's- we'll have to make those again! We went around the table and talked about what we were thankful for and sang our blessing before we ate our yummy lunch (with pumpkin pie for desert!)
When we were finished we drew a friends name out of a bowl and found a quiet space to sit and think about all the reasons we were thankful for that person and we colored a picture of all of our reasons. It was nice to see the children thinking quietly and working for a friend! When we were all finished with our pictures we stood in front of the class one at a time and told the reasons we were thankful for our friend while the others listened. This is such a special activity. It really makes the group feel connected and loved. The children love having their moment in front of the class and it's good practice to learn to speak in front of the group. We clapped for each friend that stood up and told about their picture. Then we sang good night and quickly rushed to our mats because Ryan and Heather were exhausted and it was getting very late! :)

When we wake up we plan on talking about the special things we brought to share today and having some free play time outside before it's time to go home.

This Thanksgiving the teachers at First Discoveries are Thankful for:

Elia- Our sweet little Elia. She brings a lot of love to our days. She absolutely loves every one of her friends and looks forward to seeing them everyday.

Dru- Such a loving little girl with a smile always on her face. She is so easy going and I very much appreciate that!

AJ- His funny little toddler ways make us laugh each day with his every changing vocab and abilities it's so fun to watch!

Ethan- This little boy really cracks us up, always a great listener and helper. Loves to follow the rules and likes to tell us when others are not following the rules! He's a fairly quiet little one but definitely has some energy when we turn on the music (Bob Marley!)

Zara- Brings silliness and giggles to our day. She's very rarely unhappy and she makes everyone around her happy as well! She's a great friend to everyone. She's hilarious and so much fun!

Quinn- Pure sweetness! Quinn is another happy girl, and very rarely unhappy! She loves to be involved and is always up for anything. She's just plain sweet! She's a nature girl- loves being outside playing in leaves, or sand, or catching crayfish or bugs, she enjoys it all! She often makes us laugh with her hilarious comments- she often seems much older than a 3 year old.

Jayme- Pure energy! I don't think she's ever out of energy! She's very funny and loves life! We especially love taking her on field trips- she's enjoys herself so much it's great to watch!

Kroix- The never ending supply of helpfulness! Give him a job, and he'll work until it's finished. He's always willing to help a friend in need, whether it's with getting mittens and hats on, cleaning up a mess, or pulling weeds from the garden. He's a very loving and helpful friend.

Nyla- Our new friend! Sweet and loving as can be with a bit of attitude to keep us hopping! Her whole world is "Princesses" no matter what we're doing! We're so glad she joined our class and can't wait to get to know her better.

Josie- My helper, a mini teacher, loves to take care of the kids. Always kind and helpful and pretty silly and giggly too!

Tanmay-Has become such a mature little kindergartner. He's takes care of the little ones as if he is the older brother and is always willing to do a job for me. He loves stories and projects and is a great listener.

Kane- A very sweet friend as well. He gets along with everyone and is a very easy to please child- he's happy to play dress up with the girls, or build blocks with some of the boys.

Hayden- He has the greatest dance moves and never cares who's watching him! He's very funny and kind and loving toward his friends.

Milan- The one who has been here the longest- even longer than our daughter! He was the sweetest baby and is now the sweetest preschooler. He makes us laugh with his stories. He ALWAYS has a story to tell! He brings imagination to this school- he doesn't need toys he's got enough in his head to entertain himself and the whole class all day :)

Kennedy- Another girl that's always up for anything. She loves it all and is always willing to try something new. She's excited about everything and has a great attitude! She's also quite the artist! We especially love looking at Kennedy's artwork. She always has something interesting to say about it and it usually makes me laugh!
