Today was a special day! The girls of the class took a trip to the Fire Station! The boys stayed back with Ryan and will be going on their own Fire Station trip next week since the bus people don't really like all of us riding the bus at once. It was a beautiful day and just perfect for walking to and from the bus stop- lots of puddles to splash in on the way too!
The Fire Station tour was awesome! The girls had so much fun learning about the different fire trucks. We even got to see a fire rescue boat! We never guessed that we would see a boat inside the fire station! After we had all had a chance to climb into the fire trucks and watch the fire fighter get dressed in all of his fire gear we went inside for an inside the station tour. The girls loved seeing the bed that pulled down from the wall and asked "But where are your pajamas?" they thought it was so funny that the fire fighters stay there all night, eat sleep and play together until they have to go out to a fire call. The girls enjoyed watching the guys go down the fire pole and really wanted to try it out on their own. They said that when the girls grow up and become fire fighters than they can go down a pole too! We sang our "smoke" song to the fire fighters and they thought it was great, it was seriously the cutest thing ever! We were so proud of the knowledge we had about fire safety and so interested in learning more!
On the way out the door of the fire station Quinn said "Heather, I used to want to be a veterinarian, but now I want to be a fire fighter!" I'd say that it was a pretty successful trip!
