Making Butterfly Food

We've had a tiger swallowtail butterfly visiting our garden these last few days and it's BEAUTIFUL! Ryan tried to catch it in one of our butterfly nets just so that we could all get a closer look at it but it was too fast. We decided to try and put some food out in our garden to see if that butterfly will come back, or maybe some other kinds of butterflies will come for a visit!
First we chopped a banana, then mashed it, and then added sugar, brown sugar, and water into a pot and heated it up until it became kind of pasty. Then we spread it onto paper plates. We took some feeders home and left some here at school. Let us know if any butterflies come to our feeders at home!
