Today the children made "Hands of Thanks Wreaths" It was hard work! We traced lots of hand prints and then cut them all out and thought of something we were thankful for to write on each of the hands. The wreaths turned out adorable!
I love hearing what the children are thankful for. A couple of my favorite responses were
" Heather's House" awwwww
"Spinning on the tire swing"
"Milan playing in the sandbox"
"Trees"
They are such a funny bunch.
The children loved lunch today! We made vegetable soup, and served it with toast, applesauce, a little bit of cheese and an apple slice. It was so cute to hear a chorus of "thank you for the healthy food Ryan!" as they all sat down to the table to eat.
After lunch we went to the peace garden (photos on the photo website). We wanted to take note of what was happening in the peace garden now that winter was beginning. The kids loved talking about the flowers, plants and trees that were going to sleep for the long winter months and would be waking up in the spring. There was ice and snow in the fountains and the leaves have completely disappeared from the trees and the flowers are dried and brown.
After our walk we came back sat around the rocking chair for a story and our goodnight poem before bed. We have been reading Junie B. Jones chapter books and the kids REALLY enjoy it. Junie B. Jones is a very funny kindergartener who finds herself in all kinds of silly situations. I think the kids can relate to her! :) Even the 2 year olds sit quietly and contently as we listen to the story.
When we are finished with one or two chapters we all get tucked in and say our goodnight poem.
A star for you to wish on
the sun so warm and bright
the moon for you to think on
sweet dreams and good night
