Did you know that your children know how to wash clothes by hand? They also work on washing windows, floors, table and chairs, dusting, polishing their wooden toys, bowls, plates and spoons with beeswax, sweeping, moping, washing dishes by hand and organizing toys! They enjoy working and keeping our school a clean and beautiful place to play and learn.
I feel that it is incredibly important to teach children these life skills. In today's hurried world we often over look teaching our young children how to take care of themselves and their environment because it's easier to do it quickly ourselves. Sure, our windows still have streaks on them, there are still crumbs on the floor but the children are happy. They are proud of their ability to step into an adults world and do the work they so often aren't allowed to do. They are so proud of their involvement in their school, they take good care of it, because it's THEIRS.
