This morning we read the book "Mei Mei In The Morning" about a little girl that spends her mornings with her grandfather in China. We talked about the differences we saw in the book between living in America and living in China. We sang our 7 days of the week song and talked about what we do on each day of the week. Then we did a felt board story song of the 5 little speckled frogs and finished group time by shaking our sillies with some funny songs. We also practiced singing "Magic Penny" while we held up our hearts on a stick and waved them whenever we heard the word "Love".
After group time we got out our work rugs and worked on individual activities. Some children worked on math related skills, some on matching puzzle pieces, some on letter recognition or spelling 3 letter words. When each child was finished with their individual work they were able to spend some time quietly reading, playing tic-tac toe with a friend, free painting at the table with a friend.
After everyone had had a turn painting our large group painting we all looked at what a beautiful painting we created together. When everyone works together we can do great things! The children are very interested in mixing colors and painting on top of paint to see what changes occur with the colors or textures of the paint.
We had vegetable soup with bread and applesauce today for lunch. After lunch we sat at our chairs and practiced writing letters on our individual chalkboards before Ms. Carol came for our music class.
This afternoon we plan on spending some time in the fresh snow! We didn't get much snow, but at least everything is pretty and white again rather than brown and muddy!
We plan on getting out our plaster animal print molds so that we can see and feel the different foot prints animals make in the snow and then we'll go on our own snowy foot print hunt and see what kind of prints we can find in this new snow.
