Today was a nice peaceful day.
The children were happy to be back at school and happy to see each other again.
We had a new friend Jackie start today, she will be coming a few hours each week for preschool. She had a great time and was all smiles all day! I think she'll be a wonderful addition to our class.
We began our "Love and Friendship" theme today and read "How Do I Love You" as our group time story. We also sang our good morning song and said hello to each of our friends individually. This time when I pointed to our friend we said their name and the letter that their name starts with. We did a few letter flash cards. For art the children all received a heart shape on a piece of paper. Inside their heart they were supposed to think of the people or things that they loved and draw a picture or write the name of the object/person that they loved. We talked about how we all have great big hearts and the ability to love many people, activities, and things.
Our Spanish teacher is taking a couple of weeks off, so we didn't have Spanish class today. We did take a trip to the Peace Garden today after lunch though! The Peace Garden is kind of our hands on, on-going science experiment. We go to the Peace Garden every few weeks all throughout the year and examine the changes that the garden goes through during each season. The children are really observant and point out even the tiniest changes that I would normally not even notice. The snow was knee high in the garden so the children loved walking around and falling in the snow-all except AJ and Elia- they were quite unimpressed with the amount of snow and loss of mobility!

Our lunch menu was cheese and veggie quesadilla's, grapes, celery sticks and milk.
After nap we plan on having some goldfish as a snack and doing some quiet work on our rugs with writing (for the older group)and color/shape sorting we might work with our color cubes or chain links if we have time because those are really popular activities!
