May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

An Irish Blessing

Today was all about the color green, rainbows, leprechauns and magical fun!
This morning we went outside for a leprechaun hunt. We hear that they only come out on St. Patrick's Day so we walked all around our neighborhood with sharp eyes but we didn't spot any! Those leprechauns are tricky!
Then we came inside for some free play time. During free play time we listened to some Irish music brought in by Kennedy and AJ, we enjoyed it a lot! Some of us even danced an Irish jig!
Next we had our GREEN lunch. Green macaroni and cheese, green edamame, green steamed broccoli, green yogurt and a green candy kiss for desert.
After lunch we worked on some rainbow/sunshine tissue paper art and each made a leprechaun hat! The hats turned out so cute everybody loved wearing them.
After that we quickly got our mats and blankets out and got ready for bed. We hear that leprechauns sometimes come to schools and leave surprises for the children there. Leprechauns are pretty sneaky though, and only show up if everyone is sleeping!
We read the book about St. Patrick and Ireland and learned a little bit about the traditions that go along with St. Patrick's day and then we scurried under our blankets for a nice rest.
The children don't know it yet but the leprechaun DID show up while they were sleeping! He left footprints on our floor and a spring gift for all of the children PLUS some lucky charms and rainbow candies for snack! He also left a book for our classroom "A Child's Garden of Verses" and a mess of shamrocks and gold sprinkles all over the table!
