Today we had a special visitor, Milan's brother Amani! Everyone was really happy to have him here today.
We had a good trip to St. Mary's Park early this morning. The Oak Tree's love to climb tree's and run around in the grassy area of the park, the Acorns love to play in the sand and climb on the park equipment. We collected pine cones and practiced walking peacefully all the way back to school. The Oak Tree's take good care of the Acorn's making sure that they stay away from the road, hold hands with their partner, and stay together with the group. We are very strict with walking nicely so that we can all stay safe! Everyone really does well!
It sprinkled at the park but as soon as we got back to school it rained quite a bit so we came in, warmed up and watched the movie "The Letter Factory" while Ryan and I prepared lunch.
Lunch was delicious today! We had a salad bar where the children went through the line and put their own vegetables, seeds, cheese, and croutons into their own bowls. We also had banana and bread sticks with our salads.
After lunch we went to our playroom for our Great Artist lesson. This week we learned about Carl Linnaeus. He was an artist and scientist that studied plants. For our art project the children made "Botanical Illustrations" using pencils and colored pencils. We learned that "Botanical Illustrations" were fancy words for plant drawings. The children drew bleeding hearts, lily's and tulips from examples picked right from our garden! The Oak Tree class also enjoyed practicing writing the names of each of the flowers next to their drawing.
After everyone was finished with their Great Artist project we came together to sing our story time song. Then we played a flower guessing game. The children are getting pretty good at knowing many different names of flowers!
When we were finished with the guessing game we said our goodnight poem and sang goodnight to our friends and then snuggled into our mats for a quiet rest.

When we woke we had oatmeal with nuts for snack, along with milk, and then colored a picture of the Mexican Flag given to us by Ms. Cristina. We had a few minutes outside before parents started arriving.
