Not sure what kind of animal this is, but he was sticking his tongue out at us!

Sparky Showing us what she can do

What a fun time we had today at Como Zoo!
When we arrived at the zoo in the morning the adults became pretty nervous as we started seeing row after row of school buses and children everywhere! We kept close together and held hands as we walked through the crowds and made our way to Sparky the Sea Lion Show. What a fun treat that was to see! The children didn't quite know what to think of it at first, Elia kept saying "DOG DOG!" Sparky knew lots of tricks and even danced a little bit with her trainer! It was adorable. Zara and Kennedy loved seeing the dancing!
When the show was done we waved goodbye to Sparky and walked around the animal area's. We saw tons of primates, a family of giraffes, and lions that were having lunch. The children really took it all in and enjoyed everything they saw. They followed along so nicely and held hands and stayed with their partners it was very nice.
After going through all of the animal area's we walked back to our car for a picnic lunch in the shade near the conservatory gardens. It was a good break to get out of the crowd and let everyone relax and run and play a little bit before going back into the Zoo.
Luckily it had really calmed down after lunch and it seemed as though all of the schools and daycare groups had gone so that made for a relaxing afternoon. We walked to Como Town area and thought about what everybody wanted to ride on. The little ones chose to ride on a Magic Genie ride while the older ones decided that those spinning swings looked like fun! I was pretty nervous sending them on those swings, thinking they might be scared- but of course they loved every minute of it and screamed with joy as they waved as us! The little ones loved their ride choice as well so everybody was really happy. We had a few tickets left so everyone went on a train ride together. After the train we got some treats and walked through the little garden again to the car.
It was a really great trip! We'll be doing some journal entries and learning a little bit more about the animals that we saw next week. The children are already planning their next trip to see Como Zoo, they can't wait to see the Butterfly Exhibit as soon as it opens up!
Thank you Jamie for being a great parent helper, it was great spending the day with you- it would have been a much more difficult trip without you!!!!!

Sounds like a wonderful day! What a fun & educational pre-school field trip. I'm so glad the children know how to listen and stay with their partners, etc. You've done a great job of teaching them to remain safe when you're out and about! Love the pictures! :)

Love, MOM
