This morning we watched a special movie about Japan brought by Milan called "Little Travelers-Japan" About two little girls that spent 2 months in Japan learning about the culture, food and different customs in Japan. It was fun to see something different, the children are always interested in learning about far away places.
After our movie we had Spanish class. Ms. Cristina is starting her new summer curriculum which is mostly reviewing things we learned during the school year while playing new and familiar games such as duck duck grey duck, tag, red light, green light, and hide and seek. The children will also be learning some new songs. The theme for the month of June will be "The Beach" or "La Playa".
The children that were great listeners at Spanish class were rewarded with a trip to the Toy Zone to help me buy a few bugs and butterfly supplies at nap time while the not so great listeners were taking a nap. We bought some fun stuff and looked at many other fun things. The children thought that the praying mantis habitat kit looked like a lot of fun- I can't blame them, it would be kind of neat! Maybe we'll get to that later this summer!
Our afternoon activities will be playing outside, beginning a butterfly mask, and writing a butterfly story.

Our great big white fish died today but our caterpillar is still alive and well so cross your fingers for us on that one! We're beginning to think we just can't keep little creatures alive in this house!! Which will really cause us trouble this summer as we have plans of growing lots of little creatures in our classroom observation area's!
