We have been busy this week! Yesterday the children took a trip to the grocery store to pick out fruit and vegetables- it was a nice walk to Rochester Produce. We even got a little bit wet as there were some sprinklers going in yards on our walk! Zara rode her bike to preschool yesterday and left her helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads on ALL DAY, only taking them off for nap time. It was a pretty funny sight to see, she was just plain adorable! I would have wanted to wear that cool bike gear all day too, who wouldn't? We love that it's nice enough out now for our friends to walk and ride their bikes to and from school- feel free to leave a stroller/bike trailer/bike in our garage for the day if you won't be driving to and from school.
This morning Anna found a fat green caterpillar on our playground so we got out our butterfly house, collected some nice fresh green leaves, and made a sweet little house for the caterpillar. Ryan and I have been looking online to see the best way to care for the caterpillar and to try to find out exactly what this caterpillar is going to turn into. We are planning on raising monarch butterflies in the next few weeks- they will be shipped directly to us as teeny tiny caterpillar's so we'll watch the entire life cycle happen in person. The children are really looking forward to that! We will also be getting a new tadpole and will hopefully watch our new tadpole grow and develop as well! This summer we are learning all about bugs and butterflies and we have tons of really fun things planned! :) Ryan and I are learning right along with the children! We're also always looking for Friday fieldtrip idea's and fieldtrip volunteers if you know of any great educational fieldtrips let me know! We prefer "nature" type of trips but will definitely consider other types as well.
Our lunch today was pizza, garlic bread sticks, corn, and banana with milk and snack is nachos with milk.
Our afternoon activities are watering the garden, doing some yard clean-up and of course free art will be available at the table.
