Today was a busy day! We started our morning by going to play at Folwell playground. The children had fun swinging, sliding and climbing! We had a new teacher come today, her name is Halifa and she will be helping our class out on Wednesdays and possibly some other days when needed. She has a daughter named Hunan. Hunan is almost 2 years old and is quite the little sweetheart! Halifa has many years experience teaching children in India and we look forward to having her as a helping hand around here from time to time. She also said she would be interested in teaching the oldest kids her native language which I think would be really fun for them.
After playing at Folwell we walked back to school for Music class. Today we decided to let the Acorn class have music class without the oak tree's since the oak tree class can kind of overpower the acorns sometimes. The oak tree class didn't mind because they had a cooking lesson instead of music class. They learned to make grilled cheese sandwiches and also worked on putting the veggies and fruit on the plates and pouring milk in the glasses. It was great! Our lunch was all ready and on the table right when music class finished up.
After lunch we went back outside and worked together on an insect worksheet. We wrote down the habitat and diet of an ant and any special facts we knew about ants. Then we drew pictures of the ants we saw out on the sidewalk or driveway. When our worksheets were finished we played on our playground again until it was time for rest time.
