Today was a busy day! The Oak Tree class (along with a few older and very happy Acorns!) Went on a trip to the Ace Hardware with Ryan. They learned all about tools! The children were split into the Hammer group, Drill group, Chainsaw group and the Screwdriver group. All the groups learned about their given tool and plan to share what they have learned with the other children after nap time. They were really great listeners walking quietly, calmly, and without touching anything at the store! Great job Oak Tree and Acorn class!
Dru, Elia, Kennedy, Zara and Jackie and I stayed behind because our new friend Anna came for a visit with her mom today. Anna is 2.5 years old and is ready to start preschool with us in a couple of weeks! We made and played with play dough, and had free play in our classroom. Then we all went to Folwell playground for some outside play before coming in for a story, song and lunch time.

After nap time we plan on having a very special snack to celebrate the end of our bug unit! We spent 3 months learning about every detail about bugs!! We've really enjoyed it but summer is almost finished so we're going learn about different cultures/countries in the next couple of weeks before Anna, Jayme, Arhan, Tanmay and Kane are off to elementary school and some new preschoolers join our class for the fall!

Here's a picture of our ice cream ant! Isn't it cool!? It's made of ice cream, hardening chocolate sauce (for the external skeleton) m&m's as eyes, pretzel sticks as legs, and liccorice as the antennae! We all thought it was so hilarious to eat ANTS for snack!!!
