Today was a fun day! We started with free play on our playground and then walked the school age children to school. When we came back we took turns with free play in our playroom or activities in the dinning room. The activities today were transferring acorns into little bowls using a formula scoop, coloring with beeswax block crayons, 4 different 4 piece forest animal puzzles, and paper cutting.
The activities were very popular! Everyone especially loved transferring acorns with the scoop, even the youngest class members could participate and enjoy all of our activities which was really fun!
After everyone had a chance to work at the different activity stations we washed hands and came together at the table to work on making lunch. Ryan taught the children how spread the butter evenly on their bread slices and then individually showed each child how the sandwiches can be grilled on the Foreman grill. The children really enjoyed this and thought it was great that they knew how to make grilled cheese sandwiches so they can practice at home sometime and impress their parents!
We also had tomato soup, broccoli and orange slices.
Our naptime story was "Miss Suzy" a story about a little squirrl that lives in the top of a big oak tree. The children were absolutely captivated by this story- it's really a great book! We practiced our goodnight poem-
Our hearts are open wide
light streams deep inside
the sun and moon and stars
shine on everyone
On earth we stand
giving all our hand
good day dear friend good day
birds are in the air
stones are on the land
fish are in the water
we are in creators hand
And then we sang goodnight to each friend one at a time and got tucked under our blankets for a quiet rest time.
Our afternoon activities will be snack and free play on our playground- it's been so nice out we are soaking up the sun for as long as possible every day!
