We took is SLOOOOOOWW this morning! It takes a while to get back into the swing of things when we've had 4-5 days off of school/work. The children really enjoyed playing dress up this morning and playing with the barn yard set and the tree blocks.
We read the story "Winter Lullaby" by Baebara Seuling for group time today and talked about the changing of the seasons and the way that the animals prepare for the long winter.
We talked about our Christmas tree's and decorations and what we did over the long weekend as well.
Tomorrow is the 1st day of December! We have a lot of fun activities planned for the month of December, including the opening of a holiday book everyday and a advent garland filled with fun activities/treats for each child each day!
On Thursday December 3rd we'll have our first Yogi Pose class with our new teacher Jamie.
On December 4th (Friday) we will be celebrating St. Nicholas Day and if we're good listeners St. Nicholas might visit us while we're sleeping and leave a small gift in our shoes or boots! :) Last year St. Nicholas woke us up by ringing his jingle bells loudly! He was gone by the time we got upstairs but we found some great stuff he left us!
We're still planning our trip to the mall to visit Santa and visit the Macy's believe center and we're also working on planning our Polar Express pajama party, and our regular Holiday party-I'll post the details as soon as we have them worked out. Please also let me know if you have input about our Holiday party. In the past the children have brought small (dollar store stuff or hand-made items are perfect!) gifts for each of their friends. I'm fine with doing this, or thought if you all would like to draw names we could do that, or we could just each bring a unisex wrapped gift and have each child pick a present from the pile to keep. It truly doesn't matter to me. I know in the past the children have absolutely LOVED our holiday party some of my fondest memories are watching the children celebrate together. Preschoolers are filled with such joy and excitement and pure magic and are so happy with the simple things in life at this age! December is definitely a magical month around here, and we're thrilled to be celebrating with such fun children! Your child will never have another 3 year old or 4 year old or 5 year old Christmas, so celebrate and enjoy every minute!
If you know that your child will be gone on holiday vacation please let me know so that we can plan our activities accordingly.
If you see holiday activities around town, websites, or know of any great holiday crafts let me know!
