"Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe."
The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg

This morning we came to school with our pajama's on for a trip to the North Pole on the Polar Express! We got tickets for the train and stood in line while the conductor (Ryan) punched tickets and seated us on our train. It was a bumpy, curvy ride through the woods and tunnels and over the bridges finally stopping at the North Pole. Once there we sat on "Santa's" (Tanmay) lap and each received the first gift of Christmas- one of Santa's silver bells. All who truly believe can hear the magical bells- if you don't believe the bell is silent.
After our great trip to the North Pole we wrote our own little version of a magical journey we would take if we could. We could choose any journey we wanted to take to draw a picture and write about. Some of the answers were so funny! Quinn chose to go to a "mean guys castle"!
We had a cooking contest and had the boys make puppy chow with Ryan while the girls made chocolate pretzel treats with Heather. When our treats were finished we grabbed all of the pillows and blankets we could get and watched our movie "The Polar Express" while eating our special treats. Both treats turned out great- I think we're ALL the winners of the cooking contest!
The movie is almost over and we plan on having lunch (Peanut butter buns, oranges, mixed veggies and milk) and then having a nap. We might get in a fun craft after nap time if we have time before we all go home. And for snack- hot cocoa with marshmallows and chocolate bars- just like the children eat on the Polar Express!
