Today we had another visitor come to our classroom! Quinn's mom! She came to help us during our health unit because she is a nurse. She taught is all about our 5 senses. It was so much fun. We had not ever talked about our 5 senses before so this was all new to everybody. We read a story about seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching and then got to experience all of those things ourselves by tasting a treat, smelling some lotion, and feeling something smooth, and something furry. It was a great little hands on project and the children really enjoyed themselves! Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to come and visit us Jen!
Quinn and her mom also brought something very special to share with us. It was actually sent by Quinn's grandma (who always finds the COOLEST stuff!) It was a real robin's nest! The children got to examine it with their eyes and fingers and try to figure out what it's made of and how in the world a little robin could make such a cool thing by only using it's beak! It's pretty amazing.
She also brought a book to share about Robins and a bird nest snack for each of us. Thanks so much Quinn and Jen and grandma, that was very thoughtful of you to share with us!
They didn't even know it, but the month of April is going to be all about birds around here and we're working up a trip to the National Eagle Center some Friday in April. Yay! If anyone wants to be a volunteer driver for that trip let me know!
