Today started as a quiet rainy morning. The children arrived and came straight to the dining room table where we observed Sally, our little tadpole. We took a great long look at her and then used markers to draw pictures of her. The Oak Tree's wrote in their journal's about Sally and drew pictures of Sally in her little home and the Acorn's drew pictures of Sally on paper and told me all about her as I wrote down their own words. The drawings were really sweet!
Our Root Viewer is changing as well. There are some bits of green poking through the soil. We will be documenting the growth in our journal's as well.
After our journal project we had some free play time in the playroom which included a free art project coloring cardboard eggs for spring. We also had the puzzles out for anyone that wanted to practice putting together puzzles. Anna and Zara worked together on a color puzzle really nicely this morning. The boys built a chicken coop out of stacking blocks during free play time.
After free play and free art we got our rain boots and raincoats on and went out to play. The rain had stopped but it was still wet outside so we decided on boots rather than shoes since our play yard is pretty muddy yet!
Our lunch menu was spaghetti with garlic bread, fruit salad and milk.
After lunch we got out our sleeping mats and sang our story time song and then we read the book 'The Giving Tree" the children listened really closely to this story and asked a lot of questions. They enjoyed it. We practiced saying our poem's. The children have been working on memorizing things so sometimes I tell them to say it without my help..they do really well and are so proud of themselves for having such good memories.
We sang goodnight to our friends and snuggled under our blankets for a rest.
When everyone is up we plan on sculpting with nature items on our playground today.
Our snack is strawberries, whole wheat bread with butter and lemonade.
