Jasmine flowers welcoming spring. Bamboo stalks bending with the wind. Plum blossoms enduring the bitter snow. Peonies displaying their special meaning in life. These flowers come to life in a Chinese dance production "Ode to Flowers" which will pay tribute to flowers that hold special meaning in Chinese classics and artistic traditions. The Chinese Dance Theater (CDT), part of the Chinese American Association of Minnesota (CAAM), proudly presents a dazzling professional-quality performance, involving more than 80 dancers, ranging in age from 4-50 for the first time in Rochester, MN."Ode to Flowers" is an ambitious production, one that showcases a high form of Chinese culture in a harmonious blend of dancing, painting and poetry. Unlike previous CDT shows, it will be a blend of classical Chinese and contemporary choreography. This touring production, originally presented to Twin Cities audiences, features dances never presented before in Rochester and surrounding areas.
