Our most favorite sculpture. Look how tiny the girls look next to that great big spoon!

The precious teeny tiny door!
We totally need one of these at our house!
One of the store cats. He perched himself up high and observed from there. I love how even the cat post was made into a book shelf.
This is one of the ferrets. He was saying hello to Kennedy and Elia
Our trip to Wild Rumpus Book Store was awesome! What an amazing place for both children and adults! We knew this would be a great place for children right away when we saw the tiny purple door at the entrance of the store. When we walked in we were greeted by a woman that worked at the store and she told us some background information and about some of the animals they had in the store. The bookstore is also licensed as a pet store, so they are able to have all kinds of different animals around to see! The children were allowed to wander and touch so that was really fun, as most of the time children are told NOT to touch!
We saw a chicken, cats, ferret's, chinchilla's, dove's, a lizard and and more. There were neat little secret area's all over the place. The bathroom mirror looked like a regular mirror, but when the lights turn off the mirror turns into a real fish tank with lots of fish in it! It was like magic. There was a spooky little shack decorated with masks and skeletons and all things scary and that was the spook house where all of the Halloween and other spooky books were. If you dared to enter there was a hole in the wooden floor (covered by plexi glass) that had another animal cage built in so you could watch the animals from above. There were great books, awesome hand-made bags and children's purses, quiet little reading nooks, fun learning toys and puppets. Everyone picked out a book or two from the "recycled book" section in the store before we left. We really loved Wild Rumpus, it was a really great place to spend a rainy afternoon or a cold winter morning- I highly recommend taking your children there if you are in Minneapolis! And if you do ever get to Wild Rumpus, don't forget to check out Wonderment right around the corner. It's a beautiful toy store with tons of unique games, hand made wooden toys, art materials, books, etc. In the back of the store there is a little tree house that children can climb in. It's worth taking a look at! We bought our preschool playstands, barn set, and some stunningly beautiful infant toys for Elia there. You can't walk away from that store without buying at least something!

After the book store we drove to the Walker Art Center Sculpture Gardens. We saw the famous spoon with the cherry on top sculpture immediately and the children LOVED it! They all wanted their picture taken with it. We had a picnic lunch and then continued walking around to see more of the sculptures. They were really neat, the children loved running around checking them all out. Each child got a map of the sculpture garden and they all really loved checking out the map and figuring out where we had been and where we should go. When we were finished with the sculptures we had a special ice cream snack from Sebastian Joe's- yummmy!!! before getting in the car and going back to school. We had a really great day!
Thank you Jamie again for driving and spending the day with us!
