Each summer we look forward to a night or two when we can make firefly night lights as a family! Daddy is the firefly catcher, and Elia is the jar holder! We catch so many fireflies that the jar blinks constantly and makes a sweet little nightlight all night long. Make sure you leave some air holes in the lid of your jar so that the fireflies can breathe and let them go when you wake up in the morning! Tonight we read the book "Fireflies" by Julie Brinckloe after our firefly catching adventure. If you'd like to borrow the book from us let me know- we'd love to let our friends borrow it and experience their own firefly magic!(Anyone is also welcome to use our yard for catching if your neighborhood doesn't have very many fireflies! It seems that around 9:00 is the best time for finding fireflies!)
