Today is HOT and MUGGY! Wow!! It is days like this that make us really wish we had an air conditioner, or maybe some fans at least!

Our Day So Far!

We spent a little bit of time playing at Folwell this morning but the storm sirens went off randomly so we brought everybody downstairs and put a movie on while we made lunch and checked the weather. It was WAY too hot to bake anything so we had some bagels, carrots, apple slice and trail mix.

We were really confused because we couldn't find anything wrong with weather so I don't know what was going on. As I was making lunch "double trouble" struck again by watering the butterflies in the butterfly cage! Good thing the butterflies had already seen their day, because the thing was totally full of water! Silly girls! They are so sweet they really meant no harm, they truly thought it was a brilliant idea- it's really hot out- everyone would like some water! We had to explain that butterflies don't really swim! Quite a few of our friends brought books about reptiles and amphibians! Thank you for sharing! We plan on reading a couple of them during snack time and making a spiral snake during free art time. Elia shared her farm set with her friends today and we realized that it was much cooler playing on the porch than inside- at least there is a bit of a breeze on the porch! We hope to get out the sprinkler to cool down a little bit before pick up time too!

Gymnastics Camp

We printed off some sign up sheets for the JETS Gymnastics Camps and will hand them out to those that are interested.

We have ONE space left for the first week of August- the "Under The Big Top" camp. We don't have ANY spaces left for the "Wacky Water Week". If something changes with camp enrollment I'll let you know!

Field trip!

Tomorrow we are planning on going to "Miracle Mile Block Party". This is a First Discoveries tradition that goes back as long as First Discoveries has been open (6 years!) In the past there have been bounce houses, tattoo's, face painting, live music, food, balloon animals, and lots of sidewalk sales going on. We want to leave as early as possible to try to beat the heat and get as much in before lunch as we can. Please make sure your child is here by 8:00 so that we can sunscreen and change everybody into field trip outfits. If your child has fair skin it might be a good idea to put sunscreen on them BEFORE they get here. Sunhats are also good to bring tomorrow! Little ones can easily burn standing on that black top parking lot without any shade and it's easy for us to miss spots when we have 14 children to completely cover with sunscreen before we leave. Please bring a water bottle again tomorrow marked with your child's name. With the weather being so hot we want to make sure everyone is adequately hydrated when we are out!
